Leading Insurance Broker opens South West hub in Bristol
Oxygen Insurance Brokers (Oxygen), a subsidiary of Oxygen Holdings plc, announced today (13 May 2010) the opening of a new office in Bristol. The office in the centre of Bristol will become the company’s South West hub for its Corporate Risks division. The division provides general insurance broking, risk management, claims and alternative risk financing services for mid to large UK corporations and organisations.
Oxygen takes a unique approach to insurance broking by providing all its services on a fee basis to its clients rather than taking commission. They provide local companies with the option of an independent broker, rather than a large global broker to place their insurance needs.
The division’s national centre is based in Leeds with regional hubs in London, Manchester and Glasgow. The company plans, over time, to expand the range of services offered through the Bristol office.
Oxygen chief executive officer, Graham Elliott said: “We are delighted to be expanding our office footprint in the UK. The Bristol office will allow us to target a wider range of businesses in the South West of England and to better service our existing clients. We looked at a number of locations and chose Bristol because of the transport links and the vibrant city life. We are excited about bringing new opportunities to this city.”
Oxygen Corporate Risks managing director, Jim Fuller said: “The Corporate Risks business was created over five years ago specifically on a fee based model. This means we have never taken the ‘hidden’ income that many of our competitors rely on. We set out the services we will provide and the fee for these services. For our clients the net results are a significant reduction in their insurance costs, and complete transparency in their procurement process - both wins in the current economic climate.”
The official launch is planned for the 2nd June with hotly tipped music sensation the ‘Silhouette Showgirls’ playing at the opening drinks reception. The five 5 piece indie rock outfit seamlessly fuse original soulful melodies and harmonies, with a strong indie rock soundtrack. They recently won the South West regional finals of the national ‘Live & Unsigned’ Competition.

Real People
"Although it was great to experience London life I was keen to move back to the South West and soon secured a job in Bristol. I have been living in Bristol since April 2007 and there are loads of reasons why I love it here. Socially, Bristol is a vibrant city; there are a wealth of diverse areas offering different things to do and see, from the exclusive bars and restaurants of Clifton Village to the historic sites, galleries and museums of the city centre."
