Royal opening for Australian Bank's new offices in Bristol
Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has opened new offices for Australian Bank, Macquairie. Bristol was chosen for the new offices as a result of its ability to attract quality staff and its strong financial services sector.
Peter Maher, group head of Macquarie Banking and Financial Services said: "We are delighted that the Duke of York was able to open our state of-the-art new office. By opening the headquarters of our banking and financial services business in Bristol, we demonstrate our continued commitment to the UK.
"Our new premises provide us with space to expand and it gives our staff the working environment that is necessary for us to capitalise on the new opportunities in financial services.
"This new workplace will achieve a significant reduction in storage capacity and reduced power utilisation and has already witnessed a dramatic reduction in paper usage.
"Not only is it environmentally friendly but it also makes good business sense."
Real People
"I moved to Bristol from London a year ago and I've never felt more settled. The city is big enough to boast diversity, culture and various tourist attractions and has an excellent new shopping centre. Initially, I thought I'd be homesick for London but I'm not a bit. Bristol offers affordable rents, good public transport, lots of pedestrian retail areas and plenty of fashionable eateries, pubs and... people!"
