Withers & Rogers patent attorneys boosts its specialist teams in Bristol

The Bristol office of Withers & Rogers, one of the UK’s leading firms of patent and trade mark attorneys, has appointed two new associate attorneys to its growing specialist practice groups.

Helen Henderson, previously a patent attorney at Schlich & Co in Sussex, has joined Withers & Rogers’ Life Sciences & Chemistry practice group. Chris Hall joins the firm’s Electronics, Computing & Physics group following two years as a patent attorney for Fry Heath Spence in Oxford.

After achieving a PhD in Reproductive Neuroendocrinology from the University of Bristol, Helen qualified as a UK and European patent attorney in 2010. Helen has since developed expertise in assisting clients with capitalizing on opportunities presented by their global portfolios, in order to ensure customer-focused business objectives are met.

Chris attained a Masters in Physics from The University of Oxford in 2004, before joining The Institute of Physics as a production editor. Chris went on to work in patent attorney roles for both Haseltine Lake LLP and Fry Heath Spence before being appointed to his current role at Withers & Rogers. His understanding of telecommunications, medical devices, and consumer electronics, as well as experience in representing international clients, will help strengthen the firm’s expertise in these areas.

Helen Henderson said: “I’m excited to be joining the Life Sciences & Chemistry team at Withers & Rogers and to be part of such a well regarded firm. I’m looking forward to getting to know my new clients and am very happy to be back in Bristol after a few years absence from the city.”

Withers & Rogers, which also has offices in London, the Midlands and Sheffield, advises many biotech companies as well as household names such as Apple, Airbus and Microsoft. The firm opened its office in Bristol in 1989 and has grown from strength to strength.

Chris Hall, who is returning to Bristol after two years away from the city, said: “I am delighted to be joining Withers & Rogers. Bristol is a great city that I know and love, and I’m looking forward to working with a leading firm, which boasts household names throughout its client portfolio.”

John Dean, Managing Partner of the Bristol Office, said: “We are thrilled to welcome two new associates to the team. We have seen significant successes in the areas of life sciences, electronics and physics. Helen and Chris’ knowledge of international businesses in these sectors is a welcome addition, and will enhance the intellectual property support we provide.”
