Live Music in Bristol
The home of Goldie, Portishead, Massive Attack and Goldfrapp, to name but a few, it quickly becomes obvious when you move to Bristol just how much music is performed and produced in the smallest possible spaces – indeed, it’s the grassroots scene in the hundreds of bars and clubs rather than the bigger venues which many point to as the truly virbrant soul of the city producing the next generation of international iPod fillers.
Top spots include the Croft celebrating every colour and code of music, the Louisana by the harbourside which has regularly hosted the likes of the White Stripes and Jose Gonzalez, the more eclectic offerings of the Cube, the Fleece…the list goes on and those in tune with the vibe will always know where to go each night of the week to see the latest band sure to be the next big thing.
If it’s big venue music you’re after, the Colston Hall, O2 Academy, Ashton Gate and the Memorial Ground host acts from Bon Jovi to Will Young, so you’ve got both ends of the spectrum to savour. For something more refined there’s St George’s off Park Street and the Victoria Rooms and countless live public performances at the myriad festivals (Harbourside Festival, The Bristol Festival, Folk Festival...). Whatever your tastes or persuasions, you won’t ever be far from a reason to get your up on your feet.

Real People
Robert Fenner moved to Bristol from Grayling's London office in July 2008. "It was a really good move for me," he says. "The energy in business here is as dynamic as anywhere else, and the quality of life is so much better. Bristol has an identity of its own, and the South-West is a great place to be - whether as a next step or as a starting point in a public relations career. I'd recommend it to anyone."
Robert Fenner, Grayling
