Lido

From the same company that created the successful Glassboat and Spyglass harbourside restaurants, this Clifton newbie is attached to the impressive new spa project in the ‘village’ and worth dipping your Bacchic toes in to.

The Victorian Lido itself, dating back over 150 years, has had a multi-million pound overhaul, giving diners at its restaurant the perfect view of the underlit, raised pool and all the health-conscious inhabitants who will no doubt succumb to the delights on the other side of the glass in due course. All the food is sourced locally and cooked in an Italian wood-fired oven, with a mixture of mains, starters and tapas-style ‘small plates’ which make for perfect group food, sharing and sampling everything that’s good. Try the wood-roasted sirloin with wheat berries, grapes, rocket and sumac and rosewater ice-cream for an idea of what’s on offer.

Meal for two, including wine and service: £80

Real People

"After two years of living in frantic London, I now really appreciate living and working in Bristol. I walk to work and find the city very easy to get around. With the countryside on our doorstep and many restaurants, bars and cultural activities within the city, there is always something interesting to do."
