Oh Calcutta!
The antithesis of everything the red velvet Indian restaurants of yesteryear represent, this vibrant canteen-style diamond in the dust cannot be ignored.
Along with fantastic bangra, club-worthy lighting, authentic, fresher-than-fresh fare, you’ll find everyone from young families to pensioners to the extended families of the staff in here, sharing the vibe (and some great fish specialities like the snapper pakora and red snapper in spiced sauce with coconut cream and fresh lime). When the huge screens aren’t playing silent Bollywood classics, they’re used for major sporting events from the World Cup to the Ashes, making this the perfect refilling station whatever the situation.
Real People
"I moved to Bristol from London a year ago and I've never felt more settled. The city is big enough to boast diversity, culture and various tourist attractions and has an excellent new shopping centre. Initially, I thought I'd be homesick for London but I'm not a bit. Bristol offers affordable rents, good public transport, lots of pedestrian retail areas and plenty of fashionable eateries, pubs and... people!"
