Teohs

A whirlwind tour of all the best of Asia’s cuisine in two of Bristol’s best cheap eats, Teohs has a deserved Bristol fan base. The casual, communal dining sat at long wooden benches is everything fast food should be, with the original St Agnes set-up offering a more intimate, homely experience and the vast 160-seater Tobacco Factory site in Bedminster guaranteeing a seat any night of the week without compromising on flavours.

Other strings to the Teohs bow are regular cookery schools and outstanding outside catering, while the St Agnes branch has an excellent Far Eastern supermarket attached, with recipes available on their website to inspire shoppers. The thirty or more dishes offer a rapid tour of Asian cuisine with Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Malaysian classics to choose from. Highly recommended for its value-for-money prices in the Observer Food Monthly’s 2006 Food Awards.

Meal for two, including wine and service: £40

Real People

"Although it was great to experience London life I was keen to move back to the South West and soon secured a job in Bristol. I have been living in Bristol since April 2007 and there are loads of reasons why I love it here. Socially, Bristol is a vibrant city; there are a wealth of diverse areas offering different things to do and see, from the exclusive bars and restaurants of Clifton Village to the historic sites, galleries and museums of the city centre."
